Round Robin Reading procedures are commonly used in the PK-5 Elementary literacy classroom. However, research indicates that the problems associated with this traditional technique outweigh any perceived advantages. During this interactive session, participants will examine current research that supports alternatives to round robin reading. Additionally, participants will explore alternative procedures to the traditional round robin reading technique. Finally, participants will participate in collaborative conversations with their peers about classroom application of alternative procedures. Most importantly, attendees will walk away with the knowledge and confidence to implement alternative techniques in their classrooms the very next day.
