In this session participants will engage in active strategies and discussions about the multifaceted meanings of literacy, continually asking "What is literacy?" Teachers across content areas and grade levels will hear and gather new ideas and strategies to implement in their classrooms as they explore activities that involve reading, writing, speaking, listening, and beyond. As they collaborate to form new ways of integrating literacy practices into their classrooms, teachers will expand their perceptions of what literacy is and how it looks in practice. Embedded Literacy: Beyond the Basics, encourages teachers to practice and take away new Authentic Teaching strategies to explore literacy across content areas and grade levels.
