"Dewey" Chromebook? Yes We Do!
In this session, participants will learn how a rural, Title 1 school with limited technological capabilities has transformed to a 1:1 Chromebook Environment. They will hear how the site technology team navigated the transition, grew in the area of shared values, and about the trials along the way.
Dewey MS staff will share specific Chromebook apps/extensions/websites that they are using with students on a regular basis and the impact those have on student engagement. They will also share how the technology has allowed them to increase the amount of authentic teaching that takes place. Participants will learn about ELA, Math, and Science specific Chromebook resources that can be taken and used immediately in their classrooms. Those resources are DogoNews (ELA), HyperDocs (ELA/Science), Equatio (Math), and IXL (Reading/Math).
Participants will learn how these resources can help develop a more personalized, student-centered environment and give students more flexibility with their educational experiences. Participants will be able to leave with answers to questions such as... Do we want to incorporate Chromebooks with our students? If so, how can we go about accomplishing that?

Rainfall and Mesonet Weather Activities
Getting accurate rainfall measurements is a difficult process. In order to measure every drop of rain that falls to the earth, you would need a rain gauge at every point on the planet, including the oceans. In this activity, students will examine rainfall distribution, rainfall rates, and some important facts to remember about rain gauge networks. Track the weather with your syudents using the Oklahoma Mesonet and provide your data to the CoCoRaHS citizen science network.
